Quit
Smoking Using Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine
- Arizona Channel 3 News Video
Nicotine is a powerful and addictive drug not to
mention the other hundreds of carcinogens that are
in cigarettes. It is not easy to quit. Some people
seek the help of hypnotherapists, some people use
a nicotine patch. One type of therapy that is proving
to be very effective and fairly inexpensive is auricular
acupuncture. The technique of applying very fine needles
in five specific areas in the ear. This N.A.D.A (national
acupuncture detoxification association) protocol is
used all over the world in drug and alcohol rehab
centers, with great success.
Studies show that this type of ear acupuncture helps
to calm down the nervous system, which helps in reducing
cravings. The needles remain in the ears for about
30 minutes then removed. Some acupuncturist will place
ear seeds (small stickers that contain gold plated
balls) in the ears in the same places of the needles.
This allows the patient to apply acupressure to themselves
for days after the treatments. Detox programs incorporated
to the N.A.D.A. protocol also helps increase success.
Some practioners use an herbal foot patch to do ths.
Thus no herbs are actually ingested. It s mandatory
to address the habit aspect of smoking to achieve
long lasting results. Certain techniques and tricks
can be applied at those “vulnerable” times. Breaking
the habit aspect of smoking is half the battle.
A comprehensive acupuncture treatment that includes
all these factors only increases the rate of long
lasting success. When seeking out the help of an acupuncturist
make sure they are nationally certified and licensed.
