I’m a 50 year old woman with three grown children one living at home, my mother lives in my basement apartment. I started getting a skin infection on my face in about January of 2006. I tried various creams prescribed by my physician and by several different dermatologists, all of which made my infection worse. One Dermatologist diagnosed me with Rosacia and said there was no cure for it but prescribed several creams that he thought might help control it, they only seemed to make it worse. I had tried everything I could think of including changing my toothpaste to the kind that doesn't have sulfur in it. (I’m allergic to sulfa) I also started thinking this infection might be hormonal because of my age and being peri-menopausal.
In May my son and his family moved in with us, just before that I contracted Shingles. The shingles seemed to make my face worse, imagine that. I suffered with that for several months. In August my mother had major heart surgery which left her unable to care for herself for at least four weeks. The added stresses didn't help my infection at all.
With all of that finally behind me and my mom feeling better, I decided to try acupuncture. I had previously had some successes with it on various injuries so I thought it was worth a try. I did a search on the Website for acupuncture and skin in the Denver area. The first listing that came up was for The Healing Arts Medical Center and it sounded like the practitioner there specialized in women’s issues. The office was only a couple blocks from my work so I decided to give them a call. I called Jeff Faudem and set up a consultation with him. He made no guarantees but I still felt more confident after talking with him than I did with the doctors I had seen in the past. I was impressed that he didn't give me the blank stare that I had become accustomed to in dealing with other doctors. He seemed to listen to what I had to say.
Jeff put me on a diet to take the heat out of my infection and started me on herbs along with acupuncture treatments to help my hormonal system. It took some time but I’m happy to say all of these things paid off. My face is now completely clear.
Recently I had a rank test for my Martial arts class that I've been trying to pass for 2 years, I passed! I would have never had the confidence to go in front of all those students and teachers if I still had the infection on my face, not to mention the pain involved in anyone even touching my face which is inevitable in practicing self-defenses.
At one point the infection was so bad it covered my face from about the middle of my nose down just below my chin, was bright red, flakey and bumpy, and very painful. I even had swollen lymph nodes in my neck and chin and sore gums. I still have a little scarring, which is fading quickly, but have had no more breakouts whatsoever, not even the usual monthly strays I usually get. People who saw me with my infection now tell me how much better I look. I’m so grateful to have my face back, It may not be the best looking face, but I've grown pretty attached to it. I was beginning to wonder if I would ever look the same again.

For the past six weeks I have been living with severe neck and arm pain after suffering a herniated disc in my neck. I am looking at the potential of having a very serious surgery if my condition does not improve. Both my doctor and physical therapist recommended acupuncture. “In preparation for our first IVF procedure, our reproductive endocrinologist suggested highly that we contact Jeff Faudem at the Healing Arts Medical Center. We called Jeff and talked on the phone for a bit about our situation. We were immediately impressed by Jeff's experience with fertility clients and his warm understanding of the unique physical and emotional needs of people trying to build their families.

I began seeing Jeff two months prior to my procedure. In conjunction with acupuncture Jeff also suggested some supportive dietary changes and some other changes he likes to call, "pajama therapies." Pajama therapies are things that I could do at home to help the process such as a nightly foot bath, exercise daily, and lavender under my nose to help relax before sleeping.
